Mima Design is an award winning retail and hospitality design consultancy based in Sydney. We are creatives at heart, and enjoy interpreting a clients brief, solving complex problems and injecting a new set of ideas, to develop unique customer experiences for emerging and successful brands.

Briefing & Research

We ask lots of questions and analyse site-specific information, to fully understand your business and define your ultimate wish list.

Space planning

We review the location, survey the site and analyse how the space can be utilised, to develop an optimum layout plan for your customers and staff.

Interior design

We explore ideas and opportunities, to create a concept that delivers a unique customer experience and improves your operations.

Construction documentation

We prepare construction documentation that is comprehensive, fully detailed, in colour and easy to build from. Design is in the details.

Certification & approvals

We handle submissions to landlords, council and private certifying authorities, to ensure your design approval ticks all the right boxes.

Tendering process

We manage the distribution, assessment and evaluation of tenders to licensed builders, experienced in retail and hospitality fit-outs.

Review of build

We review the completed interior fit-out, to assess if the design standards and specifications have met your original design brief.

Rollout documentation

If you are expanding your business nationally or globally, we can streamline your rollout documentation, so that it runs like clockwork.

Mark McConnell and Micheline Li Yoo Foo established Mima Design in 2000, to service retail and hospitality brands throughout Australia. Mark has over 25 years design experience in Australia, Europe and Asia. Working with Wolff Olins in London, Foster & Partners in Hong Kong, and Minale, Tattersfield & Bryce in Sydney. Micheline graduated with a Royal College of Art design degree in London, and relocated to Australia in 1994. She has worked for Australian design firms Hassell in Hong Kong and GSA Group in Sydney, prior to co-founding Mima Design.
